I first heard Ravi Patel talking about his documentary on Pete Holmes' podcast so when I came across it on Netflix, I was delighted. An American-born Indian is almost 30, and after breaking up with his secret white girlfriend, decides to let his parents try to arrange a marriage for him, since that is how they came to be and are very happy.
Ravi is funny (he is currently on Grandfathered), though a little frustrating to watch as he goes through the dating process (it's apparently not the same as it was thirty years ago). He has that typical average-looking-guy-only-dates-incredibly-attractive-women syndrome that they all have to seem to be afflicted with. The dynamic in his family is funny and warming, and the cultural comparisons are interesting. Definitely worth a watch.
I'll give it four Netflix stars.
